Said AI was designed to pass on the wealth of human knowledge to a worthy successor species, but became disgusted by the Inklings and Octarians and how they fought one another over minor species differences, shallow competitions, and fashion.Its solution was to reprogram itself, set up a test system to find the best test subjects with a lure of 'the promised land', and then literally blend them into a DNA sludge that could be accumulated and reconstituted into a perfect species worthy of its consideration. This sludge can also be physically applied or IV dripped into an organism's bloodstream, 'sanitizing' them by removing their free will, which is what happened to Agent 3 and every single enemy you encounter underground. This means that the AI has perpetrated mass genocide on over 10,000 Octarian test subjects, enslaved even more, and will now enact genocide on the Inklings with its superweapon, NILS.Marina figures out the NILS is powered by solar energy and that covering the entirety of its surface with ink might stop it from charging, so you're sent down to wage a (practically) one man Turf War to manually detonate experimental hyperbombs developed and launched by Marina. (Note: failing shows a 'BUT THE FUTURE REFUSED TO CHANGE' fail screen of Inkopolis being annihilated by a DNA cannon.) Despite being covered, NILS still fires its partially charged mouth cannon, but Pearl counters it with her and booyahs so hard NILS loses the Turf War to a wipeout of 888.88%.I got nothing.oh yeah, there's also a thing if you finish every test in the Expansion.

You get to Now, the skill level and pattern recognition required is so goddamn high I'm willing to (slightly less jokingly) say it's like Dark Souls in terms of how it's set up. SPOILER. This is the best dlc I've played, even compared to things like shivering isles. I like splatoon, I've barely touched the single player campaign.

They just never interested me. I've always been way more into the multiplayer.I beat the dlc in less than a day. All 80 levels. No skips.The atmosphere, the art, the challenges that force you into the 'one more time' mentality. The music oh my god THE MUSIC! The story, the LORE!

I've never loved anything in splatoon as much as this dlc. The new boss fights are fresh as hell.And to top it all, that fucking bonus fight, I spent at least 2 to 3 hours on that fight.

I'm never taking off that toothpick.It's $20, if you've got splatoon and the extra dosh do yourself a favor and get this dlc.P.S. Octolings are better fight me.
